Guarantees

Termite GuaranteesWhen shopping for a termite treatment you should be pay attention to the types of guarantees each termite company is offering. When you are talking to a termite inspector ask this question, " what will your Termite Company will do should termites return after you treat my home?" Keep asking until you get a clear answer. What does their guarantee really cover? It is not as cut and dry as you might think. Some companies will not freely offer their Deluxe Coverage Guarantee unless you ask, so ask!

Below are brief comments describing 4 types of termite guarantees.

A Deluxe Termite Guarantee has different names but it usually amounts to the termites company's best guarantee, the one that covers damage. Not all termite contracts cover damage, in fact few do. If you don't ask and you wait to find out after termites come back and do damage don't whine, it's won't help!

This treatment is usually performed with Termidor, Premise or a Bait Station System.

  1. You must understand and sign a contract before treatment can begin.
  2. If you would like to read a termite company's contract, ask the inspector for a copy and read it.
  3. You must receive a written guaranty.
  4. With each contract you should receive at no additional charges ::
    1. Yearly termite inspections,
    2. Annual Inspection report
    3. Retreatments necessary to keep your structure free of termites
    4. A date when your policy is no longer renewable annually
    5. A set annual renewal fee
    6. Total replacement of goods and repairs to the structure should termites return after the home receives treatment by that company.

Inexpensive spot treatments have their place, but are not advised unless you have a huge structure, like a warehouse or some kind of commercial sized building. If you have termites in a structure and you only want to have the infested area treated I would insist on the termite company using the chemicals Termidor or Premise. This is your best chance to stop termites when going with a spot treatment.

Spot treatments can come "with a guarantee" or "without a guarantee". If you get one, a Spot Treatment Guarantee provides retreatments of your structure if termites re-infest your structure after treatment. This contract does not provide for repairs to your structure.

  1. You must understand and sign a contract before treatment can begin.
  2. If you would like to read a termite company's contract, ask the inspector for a copy and read it.
  3. You must receive a written guaranty.

    3. Any retreatments necessary to keep your structure free of termites

Some termite companies offer a maintenance type guarantee where there is no up-front termite treatment. After the termite company inspects your property and finds no infestation you could be offered a Termite Warranty Guarantee. All termite companies do not offer this warranty program.

This warranty is usually offered to homes that are 5 years old or younger. There should be no conditions conducive to termite infestation.

  1. You must understand and sign a contract before treatment can begin.
  2. If you would like to read a termite company's contract, ask the inspector for a copy and read it.
  3. You must receive a written guaranty.
